PRP Fertility Treatment at Precision IVF
If you have had
IVF treatments in the past that were unsuccessful, or your test results have shown a low ovarian reserve, it is natural to explore other options.
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) fertility treatment is an advanced procedure we provide at Precision IVF that helps maximize your fertility using the regenerative and healing power of your own blood.
Our fertility experts offer personalized treatment plans customized to your specific needs and fertility goals.
PRP treatment before IVF and other fertility procedures is offered at our Frisco, El Paso, and Southlake clinics and can be implemented with IVF and other fertility procedures to help patients explore additional fertility treatment options.
What is PRP Fertility Treatment?
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy for fertility is a regenerative procedure that uses concentrated platelets and growth factors derived from the patient's own blood for the purposes of tissue repair and cellular function. The procedure includes a small blood sample being taken and processed to extract the platelet-rich plasma, which is then applied to specific reproductive tissues.
PRP injection is a minimally invasive procedure that involves minimal risk of adverse reactions and is derived from the patient's own blood. In the last few years, PRP has been brought into the spotlight of reproductive medicine as an additional treatment that could be used along with fertility treatments, broader
fertility care,
and assisted reproductive technologies such as IVF.
How Does PRP Help Fertility?
The growth factors in platelet-rich plasma fertility treatment work by:
- Promoting the growth of follicles and encouraging the maturation of eggs in the ovaries
- Optimizing blood supply to the lining of the uterus for increased endometrial thickness
- Encouraging repair of tissues in areas where there is no response to conventional treatment
- Creating an optimal uterine environment for embryo implantation
- Supporting IVF and frozen embryo transfer (FET) cycles
PRP Fertility Treatment Options at Precision IVF
At Precision IVF, PRP for infertility is offered in two forms based on your specific diagnosis and fertility history.
- Ovarian PRP to support ovarian function in selected patients
- Uterine PRP to improve endometrial thickness and implantation
Ovarian PRP
PRP is administered directly into the ovaries under ultrasound guidance. It is intended to support follicular activity and egg development in women who have not responded well to conventional IVF stimulation.
- If you've experienced any of the following, you may benefit from ovarian PRP:
- Low AMH levels or a decrease in ovarian reserve
- Elevated FSH levels associated with reduced ovarian function
- The lack of response to IVF-stimulating drugs in previous attempts
- Previous unsuccessful IVF cycles without an identifiable embryo-quality factor
- Low egg quality or number in women > age 35 (deterioration with age)
Uterine PRP
Uterine PRP is administered into the uterine cavity using a thin catheter. It may be considered for women who don't have a thick enough lining after estrogen treatment, or for women who have had a history of failed implants.
- If you suffer from any of these conditions, uterine PRP may be right for you:
- A persistently thin uterine lining not responding to hormone treatment
- Multiple embryo transfer failures that do not result in a pregnancy
- Infertility due to the uterus lining, which resulted in failed IVF cycles
- Uterine scar tissue, such as Asherman's syndrome
- Recurrent miscarriages that may be associated with endometrial disease

What to Expect During the PRP Procedure at Precision IVF
The process takes place in our PRP fertility clinic and is completed in less than an hour. For most patients, no surgery, no general anesthesia, and no downtime.
Blood Draw
A small amount of blood is drawn from your arm in the same way as a routine lab test, with no special preparation required before your PRP fertility treatment appointment
Centrifuge Processing
The blood sample is placed in a centrifuge machine and spun for approximately 15 minutes, allowing platelets and growth factors to be concentrated in platelet-rich plasma.
PRP Injection/Infusion
The prepared platelet-rich plasma is precisely injected into the ovaries (ovarian PRP) or infused into the uterine cavity through a small and thin catheter (uterine PRP) under ultrasound guidance.
Comfort During the Procedure
Topical or local numbing is applied before the PRP injection for fertility to keep you comfortable throughout, with minimal discomfort reported by most patients
Follow-up and Monitoring
Blood tests and ultrasound scans are performed 1-3 months after your PRP fertility treatment, with ongoing evaluation by a
fertility specialist to evaluate changes in ovarian function or endometrial lining development

Frequently Asked Questions
1. Can you do PRP while trying to conceive naturally?
Yes. Uterine PRP does not interfere with natural conception. Ovarian PRP is timed 1 to 3 months before your next cycle to allow growth factors to take effect.
2. Does PRP increase egg count?
Some studies and patient reports suggest improvements in ovarian response following ovarian PRP, though results vary and cannot be guaranteed.
3. What is the difference between ovarian PRP and uterine PRP?
Ovarian PRP is injected into the ovaries to stimulate egg development in women with low ovarian reserve or poor IVF response. Uterine PRP is infused into the uterine cavity to improve endometrial thickness for women with thin lining or recurrent implantation failure.
4. How many PRP sessions are needed for fertility?
Most patients start with one session and are monitored over 1 to 3 months to assess response. A repeat session may be recommended depending on individual results.
5. How soon can I do IVF after PRP treatment?
For ovarian PRP, most specialists recommend PRP treatment before IVF, with a waiting period of 1 to 3 months before starting IVF stimulation. Uterine PRP is typically timed within the embryo transfer cycle.
6. How much does PRP for the uterus cost?
Cost varies depending on your treatment plan and whether PRP is combined with IVF or frozen embryo transfer. Precision IVF provides a clear cost breakdown during your consultation before you commit.
